The perfect (b)asset!
Hello! Wanna be best friends? Because I do…My name is Benny. I am a 7-year-old, male, Basset Hound weighing around 50 lbs. I am here because The Animal Pad rescued me from an owner relinquishment. I am house and leash trained! I love my people around me way too much, so I get anxious when I am by myself. Some training and good company through the day will really help me! I am already neutered, and I am in good shape!
Since I have severe anxiety, my foster has learned that they have to sneak out while I’m in a deep sleep in order to avoid me crying. I can’t help it, I just really need a hooman that will be there for me. Maybe someone who is always home, such as a senior or someone that works from home would be my pawfect match. The Animal Pad doesn’t know if this has to do with my past, but I have trust issues and I do not allow for all people to pet me. I will lunge at you and bark, possibly growl, if I’m not comfortable. I just need to get to know you and feel comfortable. As a result though, my foster does not let people pet me unless I’ve seen/smelled them a few times and is familiar. I really like to go on walkies! And I love other doggos! If I’m not walking I am sleeping or eating. My current foster takes me on 4 walks a day (3 is fine as well). They are usually 30 minutes long and this helps to tucker me out. I’ve just started playing with toys (and I love it!). I love Kongs with treats and squeaky toys (more toys please!). When I trust you, I enjoy a good petting session. All I want to do is be near someone, love them, and get lots of love and attention in return! I am truly a sweetheart and in a lot of ways, I’m a big baby. A fun fact about me is I love seeing doggos in the neighborhood but when I get excited, and want to play, I may let out that boisterous hound bark which some doggos like and some do not. Nevertheless I am good with other doggos.
A furever home for me that would be the best is possibly one that has other doggos and someone at home often as I dislike being alone. My foster thinks I would do well in a home with a backyard, rather than an apartment building. Because of my breed, I would do well in a home without stairs as I should not be jumping or going up and down stairs. My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
