Age: 2.5 years old
Gender: Female
Breed: Belgian Malinois
Weight: 60 lbs
Personality: Cutie Zoey was found on the side of the road in Lake Elsinore. She loves to cuddle and give hugs. She is good with other dogs with slow intro, but will react and start barking if a dog is aggressive to her. She is working on it! Wonderful with cats and great with older and calmer kiddos. She does great with her foster dog siblings and kitties. She needs exercise-this breed has a lot of energy. Zoey responds well with high value treats. Will need someone who is willing to continue training her with patience and positive reinforcement. She can be startled and will yelp like she’s in pain, but she’s not in any pain. She can shut down if yelled at. She is good at letting you know if she needs to go to the bathroom with a little bark and sit by the door. She is good with not eating other dog’s food.
Education: Bathroom trained, working on the leash. Not crate trained, but good around the house. She responds best to positive reinforcement and is incredibly smart! Belgian Malinois needing a firm hand is a myth. :)
Favorite Activities: She likes to go out and explore places. She loves to ride in the car.
Looking for: Zoey is good with older kids. She is very calm in the home and doesn’t have any anxiety when left alone. She’s the perfect dog if someone doesn’t mind cuddling with her. She even knows the cue 'cuddle'! She would do well with a family that is patient and can continue obedience training. Physical and mental stimulation is really good for her-searching for toys and puzzles in the house. She is a loving dog who wants to be part of a family. Zoey is very affectionate-likes to cuddle a lot and give hugs. She likes to go on adventures.
Special needs: Be gentle with her. It's a myth that Malinois need a firm hand and outdated 'dominance' training methods. Zoey is a lover of positive reinforcement and science based training.
