Soldier Boy up in this HOME!

Hi there! My name is Soldier Boy. I might be 8 years old, but don’t let my age fool you—I’ve still got plenty of love and life in me! I’m a handsome German Shepherd mix, weighing in at 75 pounds. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, but I’m resilient and grateful for every moment.

I’ve had my fair share of challenges. I have a little trouble with my hearing and sight due to an eye disease, but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying life. I just need a bit of extra care, like my daily dose of Optimmune (~$65 per tube) to keep my eyes comfortable and my monthly injection of Librela (~$100-$200 depending on the vet) for my arthritis. I am also taking Proin (~$30 for monthly supply depending on where purchased and market value) for urinary incontinence. Don’t worry, I take my joint supplements like a champ!

My journey brought me from the San Diego streets to the shelter, where I found myself on the euthanasia list due to my age. Fate had other plans for me, and thanks to the kindness of rescuers like Babs Fry and The Animal Pad, I got a second chance. Now, I’m living my best life in a foster home, where I’ve been thriving ever since!

I’m a sweet, affectionate boy with a gentle soul. I get along great with other dogs, big or small, but cats aren’t really my cup of tea. I’m friendly with humans of all ages, but I think I have a special soft spot for the guys. I’m house trained and well-mannered, and I know my basic commands like a pro.

I enjoy leisurely walks, occasional playdates with furry friends, and of course, lots of treats! I’m not too interested in toys, but I’ll never say no to some quality cuddle time. While I might have a tendency to bolt out the door, I promise I’m just eager to explore the world around me. With a little patience and a secure martingale collar, I’ll be your loyal companion through thick and thin.

I’m looking for a forever home with a loving family who understands my needs and appreciates my gentle nature. Whether we’re cuddled up on the couch or out for a stroll in the park, I’ll be by your side. So, what do you say? Are you ready to welcome a sweet senior like me into your heart and home?
