Hi there! My name is Sol, and I’m a five-year-old spayed Lab mix weighing around 65 pounds. I’ve been through quite a journey—from the streets of Mexico to proudly beating TVT—and now I’m ready to find my furever home!
I’m a big-hearted sweetheart who loves attention. Most of the time, I’m pretty chill and happy to snooze the day away, but I do enjoy a couple of short or medium-length walks each day. I’ve got a laid-back personality with just the right dash of goofiness to keep things fun. Some of my favorite pastimes include soaking up the sun, going for strolls, getting lots of pets, and (of course) enjoying yummy treats! I’m also a great car companion—I usually just curl up and nap the whole ride.
I absolutely adore people and get along well with other dogs, too! I do have a high prey drive though, so I’ll bark at bunnies and I like to chase cats. I’m a smart cookie and pick up on things quickly. I’ll even bark sometimes to let you know what I need.
I’m mostly potty-trained, but I do have a bit of incontinence. Using waterproof blankets on furniture or carpets and keeping me clean will help a lot. I walk nicely on a leash, although I can be a little reactive when I see other dogs. I also have a bit of separation anxiety, but it’s pretty mild.
On the medical side, I’ll need regular ear cleanings and monitoring to help prevent infections, and I take medicated baths every two weeks to keep my skin healthy. I also wear little boots on my back paws to protect my nails. I’ve got some bone degeneration and stiff hips, so I drag my feet a little—but don’t worry, I can still walk just fine! And if I ever have a head tremor, a quick treat usually settles it right away.
I’d do best in a calm, mellow home where we can go on walks together and maybe even visit a lake or beach – I love being near water! I haven’t spent much time around kids yet, but I think I’d be great with older ones. Dog siblings are a bonus, but I’m also totally fine being your one-and-only. I’d love it if someone was home most of the day since I’m such a social girl, but I can handle some alone time too (perfect for a good nap!). Because of my joints, a home without stairs would be ideal.
My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. You can also check me out on Instagram at @maybe_its_carlos.
