Hi, I’m Jerry! I’m a small but mighty chihuahua, weighing in at just 6.5 pounds, somewhere between 5–10 years young, and living proof that resilience comes in tiny (adorable) packages. I was found outside the East Valley Animal Shelter earlier this year. Things got scary fast—I started having seizures. But thanks to some kid humans, I was pulled from the euthanasia list and given a second chance.
After a few vet visits, I was diagnosed with inflammatory brain disease—don’t worry, it sounds worse than it is. Now that I’m on meds, I’m 100% seizure-free and living my best life! I take two kinds of medications, but I’m super chill about it—especially when they come wrapped in delicious treats!
I’m a calm, gentle, affectionate guy who thrives in mellow environments. I’m a homebody at heart—give me a warm lap, a soft blanket, and a sunny spot to nap in, and I’m the happiest pup on the planet. I also enjoy walks and will gladly accompany you on adventures. I’m great in the car, and I ride like a king in a backpack.
I get along well with other small dogs and usually mind my own business around the big guys. Cats? I’m curious, but we haven’t officially met. I love all humans—young, old, or in between. Just don’t throw me into a big crowd without a heads-up—I get a little shaky when I’m overwhelmed. But scoop me up, and I’m back to chill mode.
I’m mostly potty trained, walk perfectly on a leash, and I’ve got mild separation anxiety, which just means I’ll whimper a little when you leave or come home. But I settle quickly and never cause a fuss.
