Adoptable: Harley

Age: 1 year old

Gender: Male

Breed: Shepherd mix

Weight: 30 lbs

Personality: Harley is an active and playful pup who is a sweetheart through and through! After he’s gotten physical and mental activity, he is happy kicking back and relaxing. He is a curious boy who is gaining his independence but still enjoys his human’s company more than anything! Harley gets along well with other pups but requires a proper introduction. He loves romping around with his furry foster sibling! He hasn’t met any cats and would be best around older kids since he still has plenty of puppy energy himself.

Education: It’s important to know that when Harley was initially rescued south of the border, he had undiagnosed diabetes which led to cataracts in both eyes. He had successful surgery which saved some of his vision but it is still limited. Due to Harley’s vision, he is easily triggered by new dogs on walks or by strangers. Once Harley is comfortable and knows he has a pal he is the sweetest! However, it takes a bit of time for him to feel safe. He requires redirection on walks and can be vocal when he wants your attention. He is already bathroom-trained and loves his crate! He doesn’t have any separation anxiety but is happiest when you’re around.

Favorite Activities: This silly boy loves to play with toys and other pups. He is an amazing hiking buddy and loves to explore! He also enjoys lounging near his people and relaxing at home.

Looking for: Harley would do best in an active home with a family that can commit to managing his diabetes and giving his insulin injections. His injection, Vetsulin, costs approximately ~$67.00. Food must be measured to confirm accurate caloric intake. For his cataracts, he uses Diclofenac sodium ophthalmic solution ~$11.00 a bottle. He also takes anxiety medications Clonidine as needed ~$9.00 for several months’ supply and Fluoxetine ~$10.00 for a month's supply. Harley has been through a lot in his short life and deserves nothing but the best! He will bring joy, excitement, and lots of love to your life. Best of all, Harley will be your ride-or-die guy!
