An angel ready to shine!

Hi there! My name is Canola, and I’m a 2.5-year-old spayed Lab Mix, weighing in at 45 pounds. I’ve come all the way from The Bahamas after the Voiceless Dogs of Nassau shuts its doors. It’s been quite the adventure, but now I’m looking forward to some well-deserved rest, love, and a home to call my own!

I’m a total sweetheart, but I can be shy and anxious, especially in new situations. I startle easily, so I need a patient family who will let me settle in at my own pace. But once I feel safe and secure, I’m an absolute cuddle bug who loves giving kisses, getting pets, and playing with soft toys.  One of the best things for me is having other dogs around! They help me feel more confident and comfortable around people. That’s why having a doggie sibling (or two!) in my new home is an absolute must. I love snuggling with my furry friends and they help me be my best self.  Currently, I’m on Prozac to help manage my anxiety (~$10 for a one-month’s supply), and if you ever consider stopping or adjusting my medication, you’ll need to check with a vet first.

As far as training goes, I am fully potty-trained in my foster home but will need some time to settle into a new space before I feel completely comfortable.  My crate is my happy place – I do great in it and have no separation anxiety when left behind. Besides that, my leash training is a work in progress, as I don’t much like being on a leash.

I’d do best in a calm home without too many visitors, or one where I can have my own quiet space when guests come over. I’m totally fine being home alone while you’re at work, as long as I have my doggy pals to keep me company. All I really need, though, is love, patience, and a gentle hand to help me blossom into the amazing girl I know I can be.

My adoption fee is $375 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
