Age: 2 Years Old
Gender: Male
Breed: Lab Mix
Weight: 34 lbs
Personality: Gizmo is an absolute sweetheart and goofball when he warms up - he is shy at first. Outside, he’s playful, gentle, and patient—especially with other dogs.
Education: Gizmo is potty trained and learning quickly with a consistent routine. He prefers the safety of his crate and hasn’t had any accidents indoors. On leash, he’s very calm and sticks close to his human, looking for gentle direction rather than pulling or roaming.
Favorite Activities: He LOVES butt scratches. Being outside in a fenced in area where he can run around and sniff (bonus if there is a dog he can play with). Likes to chill and cuddle on the couch.
Looking for: Gizmo would do best in a patient home that can give him the time and gentle guidance he needs to build confidence. He’s well-behaved, does great with other dogs, and may enjoy having a calm companion to help him feel secure during the day.
Adoption Fee: $ 250
Hi there – my name is Gizmo!
I’m a sweet two-year-old Lab mix, weighing about 34 pounds. My journey started in Mexico at a tough place called Ellos Son La Razon, and I spent the next two years with the kind folks at Los Adoptables before making my way to sunny San Diego in early June. I’ve been neutered and in great health—no special needs here!
I’ve had a bit of a rough past, which means I can be a little shy and fearful at first. But give me some time (and a few good butt and belly scratches), and I start to warm up! Once I feel safe, I turn into a total sweetheart – and a goofy one at that. I love hanging out in cozy spaces like my crate, but I’m also a big-time couch potato. My favorite activity? Snuggling up with a blanket and watching TV. I feel most relaxed when I’m in a fenced-in yard where I can sniff around and maybe play with some other doggie friends. I’m also just starting to get interested in playing with toys.
When it comes to training, I’m a star student who’s extremely well-behaved. I listen well, I don’t have any separation anxiety, and I’m really close to being fully potty-trained … as long as I get regular breaks outside, I do great! On walks, I like to stay close to my human (because the world is still a little scary), and I wait for cues on where to go. I can be a little more timid around men or if someone approaches me too quickly while I’m on a leash. I haven’t spent much time with cats or kiddos yet, but I think I’d do just fine if everyone gives me space and lets me warm up at my own pace.
I’d love a mellow or even active home—whatever works! I do okay on my own, but I think having a doggie sibling around would really help me feel more confident. Most of all, I’m just looking for a loving family who’s patient, kind, and willing to give me the time I need to truly shine.
My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.
