Yuki

Animal ID: 31035

Age: 9y

Gender: Male

Breed: Shih Tzu mix

Weight: 26

Personality: Yuki is wary of strangers but will warm up to people with a bit of chicken and patience on the human's side. Yuki is a mellow guy who loves to nap next to you and lounge in the sun. Yuki is content to sleep the day away near his person but is also up for playing with stuffed animals and fetching! Yuki does well on leash but is quick to warn you that strangers are nearby. He has some barrier frustration, but is generally very easy going once he has warmed up to you. He loves going for car rides and is a great passenger, although drive thru cashiers may be startled at his sudden alerting. Yuki does well with other dogs. He is polite enough to leave old grumpy dogs alone but will play with young energetic pups. He does not resource guard his person, but does show some food guarding tendencies. It would be safest to feed separately. Needs a home with no children or older children who will treat him with respect and give him space as needed. If you have some chicken and just two days of patience, you will be rewarded with so much love. Yuki is an easy dog, he is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on leash. He is generally a gentle, mellow guy with great house manners. He has a case of stranger danger, but can be redirected when he is reacting. Yuki loves hanging out with his human, but does well when left alone. He will sleep until you return and greet you wholeheartedly. Yuki takes a little bit to warm up to his person, but once you earn his trust, you will find that no one else will look at you with as much love in their eyes as Yuki.

Description

Meet Your New Snuggle Bug

If you’re searching for a loyal companion who loves nothing more than relaxing at home with his favorite human, this little guy might be the perfect match. His happiest moments are simple ones: sunbathing in a warm spot, lounging peacefully by your side, or proudly carrying around his squeaky toys—especially if you’re ready to toss them for a game of fetch.

He’s very much a homebody. He prefers a quiet home with no kids or frequent visitors because busy places and unfamiliar people are overwhelming for him. On walks, he will bark and lunge at big delivery trucks or even try to bite strangers who get too close. If guests are over, please make sure he’s separated in a different room. Keeping him at a distance from strangers is key in helping him transition successfully. He’s great with other dogs and is disarmed with strangers while dogs are around, but please always have your guard up. Professional trainers say that he will always be a bite risk and we have to manage accordingly, read his body language, respect his boundaries, and not expect him to change. He’s got a strong sense of protection for his home and his people. Because of this, he needs a calm, low-traffic home with someone who has experience with dogs who have behavioral issues and helps him feel safe without expecting him to be a social butterfly.

He is super sweet, playful, and loves to snuggle up next to you in bed or on the couch. At 9 years old, he’s a healthy boy and the best guard dog. He will let you know when your Amazon delivery has arrived. He may be slow to warm up and guarded because of his past, but once he trusts you, you have his heart completely. He’s got the spirit of a puppy, heart of gold, and courage of a lion. If you want a devoted companion to enjoy the peace and little moments of life, he’s ready to be your loyal little shadow forever.

His adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take him home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
