This Laid-Back Lady is Berry Sweet! 

Hey there, sugar! I’m Huckleberry. You may have heard some wild stories about Tom Sawyer and me, but I’m officially retired from a life of adventure and ready to settle into something sweet and steady. I’m a 5-year-old, 52-pound mixed-breed lady (a little pit, a little husky, a dash of shepherd and Samoyed — basically an all American girl!). I came from the ruff conditions of ESLR in Ensenada, spent a little time at HQ, and now I’m enjoying the good life in foster care while I wait for my furever fam. I hope that’s you!

I’m a laid-back lady who is as loyal as they come. I have mild energy, an easygoing soul, and a real appreciation for the finer things in life — like naps on the couch, leisurely walks, and chewing on a good bone. I’ll play a little tug with my doggie friend a few times a day, but I’m not wild about chaos. I enjoy pets and affection, but I’m also confident doing my own thing. At night, you’ll usually find me posted up on the couch like a retired adventurer who’s earned her R&R. 

I’m dog-friendly, though I do best with slow, proper introductions. Once I’m comfortable, I coexist beautifully and play calmly. I don’t guard my food, toys, or bones — I’m happy to share!. Cats and kids are unknowns, but given how mellow and gentle I am, I’d likely do just fine, especially with respectful kiddos. I love walks, though after about 10–15 minutes I’m ready to slow things down and enjoy the scenery. I have a slight limp from what seems like an old injury, but it doesn’t slow me down too much. 

I’m fully house-trained, crate-trained, and I don’t have any separation anxiety. When my people leave, I just relax… or maybe sneak in a little playtime with my dog buddy before settling back in. Sometimes on walks I’ll hyperfocus on other dogs, but I’m easily redirected and continuing to work on it.

If you’re looking for a berry-sweet companion who’s low maintenance, affectionate without being needy, and pawfectly content living the cozy life, I just might be your girl! I’d thrive in a not-too-busy home with people who appreciate calm walks, couch time, and a loyal bestie by their side. I’ve had my adventures — now I’m ready to be your Huckleberry.
