Personality: Filmore is low-key, easy, chill, medium energy, loves all people and enjoys being petted, loves giving kisses! He enjoys people coming over to the house and wants to greet everybody. He likes playing with his foster brother but also enjoys just chilling and watching things go by. He loves food and treats and enjoys a mix of dry and wet food. He is a calm dog but loves to play with other dogs, too, including small dogs.

Education: He is very good with crate training and sometimes even enjoys going into his crate for some rest and relaxation during the day. He sleeps in his crate through the night without any issues or accidents. He is almost potty trained and is getting better at it, with only occasional pee accidents. He is not reactive on a leash, even when encounter barking dogs on the street or in people's yards.

Favorite Activities: He enjoys spending time in the backyard and especially staying in the sun when it's not hot. He loves greeting visitors to the house, giving them kisses and getting pets. He enjoys going for walks and hikes and sniffing around and loves getting food and treats.

Looking For: Filmore will be great in most environments: in a mellow or active home, with or without dogs or kids, with a single person or a big family. He would prefer a house with a secure backyard because he really enjoys spending some time sniffing around or laying down in the sun in the backyard. He would also love his family to take him on regular walks or hikes. Filmore is a very good boy, perfect medium size, healthy and with good temperament, chill and relaxed. He is playful but also calm and is not demanding. His people will enjoy his loving and welcoming nature with them and their guests. He is completely non-reactive to other dogs and people and will be a great companion to take on walks and hikes and a great addition to a family or even to a single person!

Easygoing, Affectionate, and Always Ready for a Sunny Spot!

Hey, pals! I’m Filmore. I’m a 5-year-old, 41-pound black Lab mix with a soft heart, a gentle soul, and just the right mix of playful and chill. I was rescued from Mexico and now I’m soaking up the good life in SD —sunny naps, tasty treats, and lots of love from my people.

I’m an easygoing kind of guy. I love meeting new people (I think everyone is my friend!), and I’m always ready to greet guests with a wagging tail and a few sweet kisses. I enjoy getting pets, hanging out nearby, and just being part of whatever’s going on. I have a calm demeanor overall, but I can show my playful side, especially when I’m hanging with my dog buddies! I love lounging in the backyard, soaking up the sun, going for walks or hikes, sniffing all the good smells, and of course—eating! I’m a big fan of both dry and wet food, and I’ll happily accept treats anytime. 

Speaking of dogs, I became besties with my foster brother McDuff right away and also did great with a smaller visiting pup. On walks, I’m curious and social. I might pull a little when I want to stop and sniff something interesting, but I’m not reactive to other dogs (even the barky ones!).

At home, I’m a total gentleman. I actually enjoy my crate—it’s my little cozy space where I sleep soundly through the night and sometimes even choose to relax during the day. Potty training is going well, with only very occasional pee accidents as I continue to learn. I don’t have any separation anxiety, so I’m totally fine hanging out while you’re away.

Why should you pick me for your pack? I’m a loving, low-maintenance, all-around good boy who will fit beautifully into just about any home. I’m just as happy going on an adventure as I am curling up and relaxing with you afterward.

My ideal home could be with a single person or a full family, with or without other dogs. I’d love a backyard where I can lounge and sniff around, but I could also do well in other setups as long as I get my daily walks and outdoor time. Whether your home is mellow or active, I’ll match your vibe—I just want to be part of your life!
