Description
Hi there! My name is Atreyu, and I’m a one-and-a-half-year-old Micro Bully Mix weighing about 35 pounds. I’ve had a bit of a ruff start to life, having been in a few foster homes already, but I’m hopeful that my forever home is just around the corner. I was originally brought to TAP by my previous owner, and ever since then, I’ve been patiently waiting for the right person to come along. I’ve had some challenges controlling my excitement in the past, but I’ve made great progress in my current foster home and am making great progress every day.
Health-wise, I’m already neutered and am on a couple of medications to help me feel my best. I can get overstimulated at times, but with patience, structure, and understanding, I settle down nicely. I’m a loving, intelligent boy who truly enjoys being by your side. It might take me a little while to warm up to new people, but once I trust you, my playful and affectionate personality really shines through. With kindness and consistency, I’ve blossomed into a loyal little companion who just wants to be loved.
I do have some quirks that make me unique. When I get excited, I tend to chew on things, so it helps to have plenty of toys around to keep me busy. I often get the zoomies at night and love to run and play before settling down for snuggles. I can be a bit stubborn, especially on walks or when I have something in my mouth, and I might growl if I’m feeling uncertain or if someone tries to take something from me. I’m easily distracted by all the sights and sounds on walks—people, animals, lights, you name it—but I’m working hard on my leash manners and improving every day.
When it comes to fun, I love playing tug-of-war and fetch, and I absolutely adore being chased around when I’ve got a toy in my mouth. Belly rubs and butt scratches are some of my favorite things in the world, and once I’m tired, I’ll curl up next to you for cuddles. I also love gentle pets on my head and back, especially after playtime.
I do have mild separation anxiety, but I’m learning that it’s okay to be on my own. I’m mostly potty-trained and continue to make great progress. I think I’d be happiest in a somewhat active household where I have space to run and play. I’d do best in a home without kids or cats, and if there are other dogs, I’d need a slow introduction and some time to adjust. Most of all, I’m looking for someone patient, understanding, and willing to give me the time I need to feel comfortable – which has usually taken about a week or so.
Once I feel secure, I promise to give you so much love in return. I can’t wait to find that special person who will see me for the sweet, goofy, and loyal pup that I am inside. My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
