Hi, I’m Shakira! I’m a 2-year-old, 38-pound mixed-breed girlie with a heart of gold and a signature full-body wiggle that says, “my hips don’t lie”. I was found on the streets of Mexicali with my puppies, and after being the most loving, gentle mama, I’m finally ready for my own happily ever after.

I’m the pawfect mix of playful and peaceful. If you’re up for a walk or some fresh air, I’m right there with you. I also have an amazing “off switch” and am just as happy curled up on my bed or snuggled beside you. Honestly, my favorite place is wherever you are. Give me a “good girl” and a little love, and I’ll be your biggest fan for life.

I’m super smart and eager to please (treats definitely help—I’m very food motivated!). I’ve already started learning commands like “sit,” and I’m picking things up quickly. I’m potty trained, walk nicely on leash, and I don’t have separation anxiety—I settle in and relax when you’re gone.

I get along well with other dogs and currently live peacefully with one, though I tend to prefer calm companions over loud, high-energy pups. I’ve met kids around 8 years old and did great, but because I can be a little enthusiastic , I’d probably do best with slightly older kiddos. I may be a bit shy when meeting some men at first, but with patience and a few treats, I warm up and show my sweet self! 

A couple things: I’m not a fan of crates, so I’d do best with a cozy pen or gated space instead. I’m also a bit of an athlete, so I’ll need a secure home setup to keep me safe. I can be sensitive to loud voices, so I’m hoping for a calm, loving home that uses gentle, positive reinforcement.
