Thing 2 / Karl

Animal ID: 30936

Age: 1y11m

Gender: Male

Breed: Lab mix

Weight: 59

Personality: Karl is shy with new people and needs a few minutes to get comfortable, but treats help a lot! He has a great medium energy; he loves going for walks and is always ready for an adventure, but he settles inside no problem and is happy to match the energy of the home. He is incredibly well mannered. He does not counter surf, jump, chew things he shouldn't, act destructively, etc. If he is left uncrated, he finds a place to sleep and does not get into any trouble at all. He is a very good listener and will respect any rules or boundaries you set. Basically, give him a few days to get comfortable, and he becomes a super easy and loving guy. He doesn't have any separation anxiety and can be left alone in your home without any problems when needed.

Friendliness: Dogs: Yes Cats: No Kids: Teens 13-17

Education: Karl is 100% bathroom trained and can hold it a long time. He is good on a leash and does not pull much at all. He is also great with his crate and has no problem with it at night or when he is alone in the house. He literally puts himself in the crate when he knows his people are getting ready to leave.

Favorite Activities: Karl loves to cuddle, lean against his people, and he is just overall a sweetheart! He enjoys playing fetch, going on walks and car rides, chewing bones, and being goofy! He also loves playing with dogs and is good with dogs of different sizes and energy levels!

Looking For: Someone to give him a few days to settle in and then he's great. He would definitely do great with other dogs, but not a must have. He will be fine with a family that works outside of the home; he will be fine in a crate or not. Energy wise, he just needs someone willing to do a couple walks per day, and they don't need to be super long, but he will gladly do long walks or hikes or any activities his family is up for.

Description

Loving and loyal!

My name is Thing 2, and I’m a neutered 2 year old Labrador Retriever mix, weighing in at 60 pounds. I’m a part of the Cat in the Hat litter that was rescued in Mexico last year during the Thanksgiving holiday, and I’m ready to put that all behind me and find a loving furever home!

After I was scooped up by TAP, I had a bit of a rough go for a couple of months trying to adjust to all the change. I am still a little nervous about new people and environments at first, but taking Prozac to manage my anxiety helps. I’ve worked hard on my training and have already mastered crate-training, potty-training, and leash-training. I’m extremely food motivated, too, and will do almost anything for a tasty treat, which makes training and meeting new people a much easier experience for me.

My favorite activities include playing with doggie friends, being near and cuddling with my humans, sunbathing in the backyard, and chasing lizards. I also enjoy playing fetch, going on walks, and riding in a car!

I am a loving and loyal boy once you’ve earned my trust. Being naturally cautious, it can take some time to warm up to new people; but once I do, I love hard!

My ideal home would be with an owner who will give me a few days to settle in. It’s not going to be too long, I promise! I let my foster mom walk me less than 24 hours being in the home, and I was cuddling with her after about 3 days there. I don’t have separation anxiety and will be fine even with a family that works outside of the home, whether I stay in the crate or not.

I am looking for someone willing to do a couple walks per day, and they don’t need to be super long, but I will gladly do long walks or hikes or any activities my family is up for!

I’d also thrive in a home with a confident and friendly doggie sibling who could help me gain my confidence and overcome my trust issues, but I can be and only dog in the house, too. I like dogs of all sizes and energy levels! No kitties or younger children, please, but would appreciate lots of love and patience so that I can become the goodest boy I can be, super easy and loving!

My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.
