Description
Mateo is a 2 year old energetic, sweet boy with a perfect size – not too big, and not too small!
In late 2024, he got hit by a car in Mexico at 4 months old and had his left hind leg amputated. He came to San Diego with surgeries and injuries to recover from, and he never failed to smile and love everyone through it all.
He has a wheelchair he walks and runs in and loves to go on walks and play fetch. You might have seen him in Bird Rock or Fiesta Island! He loves to roam around the beach. He won’t go in the water but is okay with shore walks. Mateo is an attention hog. He will wait and look at strangers for pets and hellos. He loves head, ear, chest and belly scratches. He also loves food! Bully, carrot, and greenie sticks are some of his favorites.
He is very dog friendly but sometimes might get a little protective of his favorite squeaky ball with some dogs.
Mateo is resilient and loving and would do great with a yard and patient adults who have knowledge of a disabled dog. He can stay home by himself when needed for 4-5 hours and keeps himself entertained with chews and enrichment toys.
