O’Brien

Golden sunshine, Obrien!

Obrien is a 2 year old, male Dachshund mix, who came to us as a part of the TAP-ESLR rescue group. He became a part of ESLR shelter after being found on the side of the road in a crate that had a sign saying he had been hit by a car. He had a long recovery and needed to gain weight and muscle, but TAP and his foster parents proved that love and care go a long way! He is a smart guy who has already picked up his leash, house and harness training. He has been scheduled to be fixed soon. He is a compact 15 lb dog with a very happy soul. Obrien will need loving attention to help him be a wonderful and social dog. He is very food motivated, especially cheese! He is already doing so great, learning to trust people and trying to show his gratitude. But a patient parent will go a long way for him.

Obrien is such a people pleaser that he was eager to be on his best behavior since day 1! He loves attention and gets really attached to his person. He will ‘talk’ till he can get into the lap and cuddle! He is a brilliant car ride partner and enjoys going on walks. He gets along very well with other dogs of most sizes. He is alright with cats but would prefer to live without them. Obrien is a mellow guy with a little nervousness from his past and has a tendency to get startled by noise and sudden movements. So he does better with gentle and slow movement around him. That makes him a better candidate for older kids who know how to be gentle. As long as he has a patient and loving family, he will do better and better! Love, attention and humans to hang out with, make his life better!

Obrien will do great with someone who is looking for a solid, loving companion. He will be wonderful with older kids who understand dog behavior and know how to be gentle. His adoption fee is $300 and that includes neutering, shots and microchip. If you want to take him home, please fill out the form on the website here https://www.theanimalpad.org/adopt-today
